Beautiful Charles, loving son of mine...
30-years of searching, only never to find.
Many times I've crossed the ocean...
the waters ever so blue, always praying a tip, will lead to finding you.
My heart is broken, so filled with sorrow...
I struggle each day, always hoping tomorrow.
You were only 20, a very good man,
living without you... I do the best I can.
After 30-years of searching, I've come to regret...
It's your earthly body, I have to find yet.
Begging all who know wherever you lay,
please send a lead... I so often pray.
My Charles, sweet Charles... my only son.
I will continue my search, until my earth's work is done.
For whoever knows, what happened to you...
Please speak up now, it's long overdue.
All I want is my child, to have and to bury,
here with his family, in a quaint cemetery.
Please bring me answers, to where Charles'll be found,
I'll dig myself... I'll turn up the ground.
Nobody needs to know, except you and me...
Please send me a tip, and your heart'll be free.

In honour of the National Missing Children’s Day today (Saturday) the RCMP have been running a new campaign all week highlighting different missing children from across the country.
The goal of the campaign is to shine a light on children who are still missing in the hope of getting new information that could help solve their case.

“During the late evening of October 13, 1970, Hellen Clare Frost left her apartment of the 1600 Block of Queensway. She told her sister she was going for a walk and unfortunately never returned and has not been seen since,” said Corporal Craig Douglass.

“Over the years we have reached out the public on a few occasions to try and gather new information. We always have the belief that someone out there has information about what happened, and in this case, what happened to Helen.”
In 2018, 42,233 children were reported missing in Canada, although 92 per cent are solved within the first week there are still thousands of cases still open.

Hope has not been lost; eight years missing Madison Scott

SEE VIDEO HERE
May 28th will mark eight years since Madison Scott vanished during an overnight camping trip near Vanderhoof.
Prince George-Cariboo MP Todd Doherty took some time to speak with her parents, Dawn and Eldon Scott, who still hold out hope that Maddison is out there.
“It’s as raw as you can get. The day that we filmed the video, yesterday (Tuesday), it’s was 2900 days. The Scotts are no closer to knowing what happened now, all those days later, than they were the day they discovered she was missing.”
“We want to make sure that we are keeping the interest and the search alive.”
“It is our hope, that by releasing this video that if there is someone out there who knows anything about Maddy’s disappearance or any other missing person case – that they come forward,” said Doherty.
“As a father of 4, I cannot imagine the pain the Scott family and others who have loved ones that are missing endure. That perhaps, the burden of carrying this information is too great.”
“I want to thank Dawn and Eldon Scott for sharing with me these personal moments. I am in awe of your strength.”

"We need our dad to come home, we're very worried, and we need all the help we can get," said Ricky Che, Vincent's son. "He's really healthy because he hikes a lot, so we know he's strong. But this is a long time to be outside alone."
Family have provided investigators with additional photos of the clothing Mr. Che was wearing at the time of his disappearance, including distinctive running shoes and a checked shirt. "The green runners are especially unique," said DeVries, "so we want people to focus on that detail."

Investigators have been following up on leads during the past 6 days, including tips of sightings in Lynn Valley, cell phone pings, and locations from Mr. Che's past that he might attend. "We especially want people to search their back yards, and any buildings on their properties like sheds or workshops. "It's not unusual for people in these situations to be found in work construction sites or abandoned buildings because they know they need shelter," said DeVries.

black hair
brown eyes

SEE GLOBAL NEWS FOR UPDATE IN SEARCH

Merritt RCMP with the help of Nicola Valley SAR and numerous other groups are on their second day of searching for a missing male in the Merritt area.
Merritt RCMP were advised of a horse with no rider and full gear around 1230 pm on Monday January 28. The horse had been located by loggers in the area earlier in the day and they advised local ranchers who retrieved the horse and were able to identify its owner. The male owner was identified as a 32 year old local male who worked for a local ranch and had been on his days off and unknown to be missing. Enquiries determined that the male was last seen Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. but unknown when he rode into the back country.
Search efforts are being coordinated by Nicola Valley SAR with the assistance of Kamloops SAR. Other teams have been called in from the Shuswap, Penticton, Princeton, Logan Lake, COSAR, Chilliwack and Surrey. Nearly 40 SAR members were onsite Monday evening with Police Dog Services, snowmobiles and RCMP Air support. Overnight Search and Rescue provided Air searching from PEP Air and Drones equipped with FLIR capabilities as well as ground searchers.
Search and Rescue has also accepted assistance from numerous ranchers on horseback, Aspen Planers staff, Lower Nicola Indian Band and have 4 trained search dogs on scene with a helicopter on scene all day.
Due to active logging in the area and herds of wild horses, finding track for the rider has been hindered and Search and Rescue is still unaware of the missing male’s destination so continue to search the area. Members of the public are asked to not participate in lone searching as it may interfere in Search and rescues efforts but if anyone has any information or may have seen a male riding in the Swakum ridge are of Merritt Saturday or Sunday they are asked to contact the Merritt RCMP

Lost on healing journey - Travis Damon
SEE FULL STORY ON CASTANET NEWS

The evidence of Travis Damon Thomas's survival is scarce but his uncle says it's scattered around a remote island off the coast of Vancouver Island: a circle of footprints, the remains of a sea urchin, a burned log.
Occasionally, the 41-year-old who is listed as a missing person by the RCMP has been spotted.
Thomas was sent to Bartlett Island near Tofino in July as part of an Indigenous tradition to help him heal from addiction and other ailments, said Alfred Dick, his uncle.
But the traditional method of the Ahousaht First Nation didn't go as planned, Dick said, when Thomas didn't return home after two weeks.
"Something just went awry on this one," Dick said.
Seven months later, friends and family visit the island daily to leave food and other supplies for Thomas and try to coax him home.
"When we start a healing journey within our nation — if you're having troubles, maybe addiction or something of that sort — we usually bring them to an island or isolated area where they can be by themselves and find themselves for roughly about two weeks before we let anyone join them and start helping and counselling them," Dick said from the island as he dropped off supplies.
"He got put on the island and when they come to check on him he wasn't around. All the signs were here that he was here, but he was nowhere to be seen, he went into the bush.

Ryan Shtuka search: Family, friends mount renewed campaign before winter.
SEE FULL STORY ON GLOBAL NEWS
Family and friends of an Alberta man that vanished in Sun Peaks earlier this year are mounting a final search effort before the year’s heavy snowfalls at the resort.
The 20-year-old was last seen on Feb. 17, leaving a house party on Burfield Drive.
He had been working the winter season at the popular ski resort.
“We knew it was going to 50-50 coming up here in November — if the snow would be here, if it wouldn’t be here — but it was still really important for us to be able to come,” said Heather Shtuka, Ryan’s mother.
It is believed that the Beaumont, Alta. native had been heading home for the night when he left the party. His family has said it is unclear what state of mind he was in or how intoxicated he may have been.
Shtuka’s family spent more than three months looking for their son after he disappeared, and even offered a $15,000 reward for information leading to his whereabouts.
Police had initially asked area residents to check their sheds and outbuildings, saying it was possible Shtuka had entered one, and said they had no information suggesting he had left the village.
However, despite the intensive search, no trace of the missing man was found.
In the latest search, volunteers are concentrating their efforts on the village area of Sun Peaks, with Heather Shtuka leading the search.

Kelowna RCMP continue to work with Denise Allan, mother of missing backpacker Charles Horvath who was 20 years old at the time of his disappearance.
